Description

I was trying to capture the feeling and emotion of a relationship between father and daughter in this photo. The setting was a 1950s Jive night inside an old deconsecrated Anglican church (for the curious, since bought and converted for use by one of the more contemporary Pentecostal church movements). Because of the setting I was also trying to capture the movement and feel of the dance atmosphere and lighting.

I was using a 6mb Pentax SLR with movement setting.

It could have worked well if you had the camera stabilized. If you didn't have a tripod near you could have used a chair or sth like that. That way you would have captured the movments but what is still would have been still, like the chairs in the back and the windows. The photo has is a bit too much motion blur.

Nice mood and sensation of movement.....background is a little distracting.

I assume that you did not mean to have this blur effect? But you got something interesting. This is a great, different subject. Maybe needed to be taken from the other side, as the rest of the people dont belong in the mood.

Yes, its not a perfect photo by any means - for example the blur effect is too strong. But I thought the subject interesting enough to pass on. I do like the concept of the photo and the mood is something I was hoping other people would see as well.
Thanks for the feedback.
